Environment Canada's Single Window Reporting System Launched
You can now submit greenhouse gas (GHG) reports for the 2009 calendar year via Environment Canada's Single Window Reporting system.
Welcome to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Website.
Accurate tracking of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions is an important part of assessing Canada's overall environmental performance. By providing a more precise picture of the sources and amounts of GHG emissions from Canadian facilities, the GHG Emissions Reporting program will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of climate change and energy use policies and strategies.
The federal government continues to work in partnership with the provinces and territories to develop an efficient, harmonized, "single-window" domestic reporting system for GHG emissions that supports four complementary objectives:
This website contains information about registration and reporting, technical requirements, and links to other related sites. Information presented here will be updated on an ongoing basis as the phases of reporting are implemented.
In order to determine whether or not your facility is subject to the reporting requirements under the GHG Emissions Reporting program, you should first determine the total GHG emissions emitted from your facility, and assess whether these emissions meet or exceed the reporting threshold of 50 kilotonnes of CO2 equivalent. If they do, your facility must submit a report. However, facilities with GHG emissions below the reporting threshold are encouraged to report.
Details on Alberta’s GHG Reporting Program are available on Alberta Environment’s website.
The GHG types that are covered by the reporting requirement are:
